The Silver Spur
Springfield Edition
A celebration of the 75th anniversary
of a very special relationship

The
United States of America has always played an important part in the history
of Rolls-Royce. In 1919, after the First World War,
Rolls-Royce recognised that the
USA was the most important car market in the world.

Americans bought more cars
each year than the rest of the world combined. Consequently,Rolls-Royce
of America Inc.was formed to build cars in the USA, a factory was built
in Springfield, Massachusetts and the first chassis was completed in 1921.
As a commemoration of this anniversary,
Rolls-Royce produced a specially designed Silver Spur Springfield Edition.
Each motor car features a polished
stainless steel plaque fitted
to the drivers treadplate together with an inlaid and inscribed madrona
veneer panel on the centre console, marking the anniversary.
The concept of two young Rolls-Royce
designers, the Springfield Edition captures the
essence and the style of the 1920's,
but interpreted in a contemporary manner appropriate
to the modern day Rolls-Royce motor
car.
Each Springfield Edition incorporates
Chesterfield style seating and a madrona veneer with cherrywood crossbanding
and boxwood inlay treatment to the interior woodwork. This is complemented
by exterior colour combinations that not only typify the period, but were
used byBrewster & Company,
the Rolls-Royce coachbuilders based in Long Island City,
New York.
The specification sheet bears witness
to the wealth of distinctive features and unique styling of this motor
car.
This is indeed a rare opportunity
to own a piece of motoring history.
As a unique momento of the Rolls-Royce
Springfield Edition, each owner will receive an unframed rendering,
hand finished in the motor car's
colour combination.
Each rendering will be signed by
one of the designers, with an inscription that includes the owners name,
town or city and state, plus the
month and year ownership commenced. The rendering can also be supplied
in a frame with madrona veneer
and cherry crossbanding,
hand made by Rolls-Royce master
craftsmen at Crewe, England. Each frame echoes the interior woodwork of
the Springfield Edition.
As well as the exterior rendering
with each Springfield Edition, three individual renderings
depicting interior details of the
owners specifications can be supplied. This set of four renderings
will then be individually framed
with madrona veneer and cherry crossbanding
and could form a highly distinctive
addition to any art collection.
