Aphrodite  (A Greek Goddess also known as Pandemos, Cerigo)

Goddess of love, beauty, fertility and desire.  Aphrodite was born of the foam of the sea and stepped ashore from a scallop shell onto the island of Cythera and eventually took up residence at Paphos, in Cyprus.  Homer refers to her as the daughter of Zeus and Dione. Zeus was so frightened that the Gods would fight over Aphrodite because she was so beautiful, that he married her off to the
smith God Hephaestus.  Hephaestus made her a magic girdle of fine wrought gold that only added to her irresistible  beauty. Her priestesses represented the Goddess and sexual intercourse with them was considered one of the methods of worship. Grass and flowers sprung from the soil where she trod.

Arianrod ( A Celtic Goddess also known as Arianrhod)

A Welsh Goddess famed for her beauty – her name means “silver wheel” or “silver circle”.  Arianrod was worshiped as a Moon
Goddess and a Goddess of fertility.  According to Legend she was the mistress of Gwydion The Wizard and gave birth to twin sons
– Llew Llaw Gyffes and Dylan.

Artemis  ( A Greek Goddess also known as Cynthia, Amarynthia)

The daughter of Leto and Zeus and twin sister of Apollo.  According to legend Artemis was born a day before Apollo and assisted
her mother in the delivery of her brother.  When she was three years old she asked her father Zeus to grant her eternal virginity.  She
dances in her silver sandals through  the mountain forests and countryside, accompanied by her nymphs, protecting the wild animals.
She is depicted carrying a bow and arrows which were made for her by the smith God Hephaestus, also with a crescent moon above
her head.  Artemis is the Goddess of the hunt, wild animals, fertility. She is a friend to mortals and rides her silver chariot across the
sky shooting arrows of silver Moonlight to earth.

aspects of the Goddess dating back to the Bronze Age.  She is sometimes portrayed with cow horns thus representing fertility, or

of which is “battle raven”.  She is one of the triad of war-goddesses the other two being Macha and the Morrigan.

Blodeuwedd is the Welsh Maiden Goddess.  The Goddess of new beginnings, independence and empowerment.  She was created
out of nine flowers by the wizard Gwydion to wed Llew Llaw Gyffes the Welsh Sun God.  She took a lover named Goronwy who
attempted to kill Llew but Llew turned into an Eagle.  Llew was returned to human form by Gwydion who then transformed

poetry, 2) Fire of the Hearth, as patroness of healing and fertility, and 3) Fire of the Forge, as patroness of smithcraft and martial
arts.  Because of her third aspect she is thought by some to be the Lady of the Lake who forged Arthur’s sword Excalibur.

Brigid’s festival is Imbolc when she ushers Spring to the land after The Cailleach’s Winter reign.  Brigid owned an apple orchard in
the Otherworld to which bees would travel to obtain it’s magical nectar,.  Because of her association with the apple and oak she is
often considered to be the patroness of the Druids.

second child was a boy, Afagddu, ugly and misshapen.  Ceridwen wanted to give Afagddu the gift of inspiration to make up for his
ugliness.  So she set to brewing a magical liquid and asked her kitchen boy Gwion to tend it. Gwion had to stir the cauldron for a
year and a day, and was told he must on no account taste the brew.  Three drops scalded his hand and he licked them off, instantly
acquiring all the knowledge intended for Afagddu.  Gwion ran from the cauldron pursued by Ceridwen – Gwion changed into a hare
to outrun Ceridwen, who changed into a greyhound. Gwion changed into a fish, Ceridwen changed into an otter.  Gwion changed
into a rabbit, Ceridwen changed into a hawk.  Finally, Gwion changed into a grain of corn, Ceridwen changed into a hen and ate
him….  Ceridwen became pregnant with him and nine months later he was born, a boy of astounding beauty and grace and she
called him Taliesin.  She placed the baby in a coracle and put him into the sea.
